GEM CU: Natural paper wave, sharp corners, no handling or paper flaws.
CHOICE CU: May have light counting marks, a soft corner, small paper flaws or a dirt smudge.
CU: Crisp paper although with noticeable marks or smudges. May have rounded corners or a corner tip fold provided it doesn't extend into the design. An uncirculated note with excessive handling or other numerous problems will be downgraded to AU.
AU: May have one light corner fold or a weak center bend.
EF: One to three hard folds with minimum soiling.
VF: Several folds and light soiling. Some body left to the paper.
Fine: All crispness gone, but still fairly clean.
VG: Well worn and soiled. No paper separations at the folds caused by wear, although edge nicks and tiny tears are possible.
Good: Paper very limp and soiled. Folds could be separating from use.
Centering Standards
Very Fine (VF): Full margins and well centered on both sides with only a slight shift evident.
Fine (F): The shift is obvious but not objectionable. Could be well centered, but with narrow margins.
Average (A): One or more margins are close or touching, or the note in general is very off-center.
